Residental supported parenting for families |

Our desired outcomes for the future of the Veritas Supported Break Programmes...
The Supported Break Programmes for children and families are a timely exponent
in the development of local Parenting Support programmes. As early family
intervention initiatives they fit well into Government Polices relating to
care-plans for families and the Respect Action-plan and prevention of
anti-social behaviour because they have the benefits required in the evaluation
of outcomes.
We know that our Programme has enabled families, who might otherwise have been
separated by care proceedings, to stay together.
Our belief is that through this programme we can help to decrease the severe
emotional cost to a child being taken into care by acting before there is a need
to do this, thus creating more positive potential life choices.
By families having access to this Programme it will inevitably lessen the long
term financial cost of residential care and long-term support which is borne by
the general public when families are separated.
We know that the Supported Break Programme is a significant tool which can be
used for the eradication of social exclusion and to increase the happiness,
health and emotional stability of every child and their parent (as outlined in
Dr Valerie Wigfall’s Report.)
"The eradication of social exclusion is a strategy for addressing a range of
social problems from poor health to youth crime’. The long term aim is reducing
public expenditure (SOCIAL EXCLUSION UNIT)"
To establish Veritas Supported Breaks as a National Programme in Partnership
with other Agencies and make them available to all families in need in every
Local Authority throughout the United Kingdom
